Over the years I have spoken to many people before and during the coaching process. Questions often are repeated I added here a small selection of the most common ones.
How is “Brain-Based” coaching different from traditional coaching?
Traditional coaching often focuses on accountability and “cheerleading.” Brain-based coaching is rooted in neuroscience. We focus on the biological triggers that govern how you think, feel, and act. By understanding the brain’s “threat and reward” system (the SCARF model), we can bypass the mental blocks that keep you stuck and tap into the prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain responsible for complex decision-making and innovation.
Why don’t you just tell me what to do? (The “Consultant” Question)
It’s a common misconception that a coach provides a map. In reality, when someone gives you a solution, your brain often experiences a small “threat” response because your Autonomy feels diminished. More importantly, your brain doesn’t “own” a solution it didn’t create. By asking powerful questions, I help your brain generate its own insights. These “Aha!” moments create strong, new neural connections, making you far more likely to follow through and succeed.
What is “Quiet Leadership” and why do I need it?
Quiet Leadership is the art of improving the way others think. Many leaders spend their time “fixing” people or problems. A Quiet Leader focuses on the process of thinking. In our work, you will learn to quiet your own internal noise and the noise within your team. This leads to clearer communication, less workplace friction, and a significantly higher level of collective intelligence.
Can you really “rewire” a leadership style or a career path?
Absolutely. This is the concept of Neuroplasticity. The brain is not a static organ; it is constantly changing based on experience. Through consistent, focused attention and new behavioral habits, we can physically weaken old, unhelpful neural pathways and strengthen new ones. Whether you are transitioning careers or shifting your leadership presence, we are essentially performing a “software upgrade” on your cognitive habits.
What does a typical session look like?
Think of our sessions as a “gym for your brain.” We start by defining a clear goal for the conversation—this provides the Certainty your brain needs to relax. We then move into a series of explorative, insight-driven questions designed to stretch your thinking. We conclude by crystallizing a specific action or a “new habit” to test. You leave not just with a “to-do” list, but with a clearer, more energized mental state.
